Accounting & finance

  • Interpret basic financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement).
  • Apply time value of money and capital budgeting techniques (NPV, IRR) to investment decisions.
  • Compute and interpret key financial ratios used to assess corporate performance and leverage.
  • Describe basic corporate finance concepts including capital structure and cost of capital.

Economics

50%
  • Apply supply and demand analysis to determine market equilibrium price and quantity.
  • Describe market structures (perfect competition, monopoly, oligopoly) and their pricing implications.
  • Apply macroeconomic concepts (GDP, inflation, interest rates, business cycles) to the insurance market environment.
  • Assess the impact of government intervention (taxes, subsidies, regulation) on market outcomes.

Overview

VEE credit is earned through approved university courses or online providers (grade Bโˆ’ or better) rather than an exam. The CAS currently requires Accounting & Finance and Economics; Mathematical Statistics VEE is required by the SOA but not the CAS.
